Captains of Manantiel de Amor Children's Home

Cheque and I with Edgar and Connie, the directors of MDA
We want to update you on an important change in our roles with B2B. Cheque and I have accepted the role as B2B Captains of a children's home called Manantiel de Amor (MDA) which translated means "Spring of Love". This means that we are now B2B's main connection to this home. We are working closely with the directors of MDA, Edgar and Connie, to help support them in their ministry to the 30 kids who live there. We are responsible for many things such as handling donations for the home, seeking more sponsors for them, bringing teams to serve there, helping to meet the kids' needs of tutoring, braces, dental and doctors appointments, etc. Our job also includes the interesting details of helping to plan quince anos parties for several teenage girls in the home and helping with the construction of a new children's home for them. We are excited about this new role and all that God desires to teach us through it. We will still continue with our other responsibilities of mentoring, helping with groups that come down, and the literacy program however MDA will be a priority.

We leave tomorrow to spend four days out at MDA with the directors and kids! We are excited to get to know them better and to learn how to better help meet their needs. We have all sorts of fun things planned from a bonfire to game night, but also desire to live life alongside them in their daily routine. Please pray for our time at MDA as we seek to build stronger relationships with the kids and workers in this home.

Summer Intern Outing

During the summer we had several fabulous interns come help us out at B2B Monterrey. These folks helped us keep things running with near to 100 guests each week :) On their last night with us we took them out for a little "Donation Room Designer" bowling. Each intern had to design an outfit for another using only items left over from the donation room. We had quite a blast!

The brains behind the night!

Instead of bowling normal, each frame had a different handicap. In this frame the guys had to bowl backwards.

All of us!

Sheep and Wolf

This summer we integrated "Play with a Purpose " (PWAP) into our daily activities with groups and kids. The idea is that all of our play with the kids be centered around some kind of educational purpose. We desire to take advantage of every moment we get with these kids, to impact them for the future!

These pictures are from a PWAP lesson we did in Rio3 teaching about our Father as the good shepherd :)

Banana Bread

During the month of July, Cheque and I had the opportunity to live in one of our Hope Program teen homes for a week with four teenage boys. Their house parents were on vacation so Cheque and I filled in. We had a great time with Lalo, Lalo Daniel, Angel, and Chuy! These are pictures from our banana bread baking day. We got a donation of very ripe bananas that could only serve for a good bread, so that is what I taught the boys to make!

Making banana bread!

Lalo wants to be a chef, so he stuck with me in the kitchen the whole time, very interested and very helpful. We made a triple batch of banana bread with all the bananas we received! Our afternoon turned out to be a great time of sharing testimonies. Lalo told me the incredible story of his life and how he ended up in our Hope Program. I story of amazing miracles and God's love.

The finished product! We didn't have enough bread pans, so we make a banana bread cake :)

Yummy!
