| Milagros outside her school |
As many of you know, Milagros is a young girl who lives in Rio1 and through generous supporters of B2B is studying cosmetology at a local school. Milagros was born deaf and has learned how to overcome many difficulties in her life. She has grown up and still lives with her parents and brother in a shack in the Rio and has now finished nearly 2 years of classes at a cosmetology school. As of today Milagros is officially done with her course work! She will continue to practice her skills, study and take her final exam and then attend graduation in October.
At the beginning of this month I took Milagros and her mom, Tere, to the cosmetology school to make a payment and talk to the director. The director had only good things to say about Milagros and her work! In my car, on the way to take Tere back home, I asked her how she felt about her daughter’s achievements. Tears began to well up in Tere’s eyes as she said that when Milagros was born deaf she never thought that she would be able to do much. “I never thought I would see my daughter finish school or have a career,” she said with a quivering voice. “This is more than any of us ever dreamed of.” Tere and I talked about how God had a special plan for Milagros from the time she was an infant and that He will carry it on till completion. How beautiful to see how the Lord changes our expectations and does more than any of us could ever dream of!
